A small but talented online art studio that hand paints beautiful oil portraits from your photos.

Portraits from Photos was founded in 2007 in London and has been painting beautiful oil portraits of families, children, animals and ancestral portraits for people ever since.

Talented artists matched with brilliant customer service makes Portraits from Photos the perfect online art studio to paint your portraits for you. As long as you have clear photos showing us what you want, we’ll be able to paint a beautiful oil portrait for you.

Every portrait that you commission with our portrait artists is completely custom-made. Meaning, not only can we paint your portrait to any dimensions that you need, very handy if you have an old frame that you wish to re-use or have a specific area that you want to fill but if you wish, you can also have complete control in how you want your portrait to be painted. If you have ideas on how you would like the background to be painted for example and in what colours, please tell us. We’re really happy to listen to any of your ideas..

If you want your portrait artist to work from a lot of different photos, sometimes it's best to get a mock up done in photoshop to show your artist what you have in mind. Vlatko is the man that prepares a visual brief should you require it.

Why Portraits from Photos

Online Proofing

Once we’ve finished painting your portrait, we will send you a high resolution photo of your oil portrait for your approval.

Revisions

If you would like your artist to make slight amendments to your portrait once you’ve seen it, then please just ask, we want you to be delighted with it.

Mock Up Service

If you require it (usually if you want us to work from lots of photos) our graphic designer can prepare a mock-up for you and your artist.

Free World Delivery

We hate delivery charges as much as you do, so we won’t charge you a thing for it.

Brilliant Customer Service

Tim’s on hand if ever you need to ask a question. He’ll supervise the progress of your painting and give you a date of when your portrait will be ready.

The Process - How it Works

HOW IT WORKS
1. Email or upload your photo(s) that you would like your portrait artist to work from with an idea of size and choose how your would like your portrait to be painted. ie. with a studio background, realist, painterly style. You can see our styles here – Portrait Styles
2. Once we’ve gone over all your requirements with you and you’re happy with us to start, we’ll begin your painting. We do ask you to pay a 50% deposit at this stage. Tim will also give you a date of when your portrait will be ready.
3. Once we’ve completed your oil portrait we will email you a high-resolution photo of your painting for your approval and should you wish your portrait artist to make any slight amendments (within reason) then please just ask. We want you to be thrilled with your oil portrait.
4. Final step – Once you’ve approved you portrait, we’ll ask you to settle the balance. When the oils have sufficiently dried we will then securely deliver your oil painting to you and give you a tracking number..

We can offer you a mock up service
Meaning if we're working from lots of different photographs, and you're not sure how your portrait will look. Our graphic designer can prepare a visual mock up for you using photoshop, so you'll be able to see exactly how the composition will look beforehand.
