Your Guide to Commissioning an Oil Portrait

We understand that if you've visiting our website you're looking to commission an oil portrait either to commemorate a loved one that has passed away, to celebrate a special moment such a wedding, anniversary, birth or milestone or to have a beautiful oil portrait painted of a cherished moment as a gift. You're probably looking at a lot of other portrait artists websites to find the right mix of quality and value for money. Here's what we can offer you.

Online Proofing & Unlimited Revisions

As a small online art studio we know that ordering online without physically going into an art studio to see the actual style of portraits of an artist you’ll be ordering from can be a tad daunting. We therefore want to take away any sort of worry or risk you may feel when ordering your oil portrait with us. This is why when your portrait artist has completed your oil painting s/he will send you a high-resolution photograph of it for your approval. Should you wish any amendments to be made then please tell your artist. We all want you to be delighted with your portrait.  Once you’re satisfied it’s only then we will ask you to settle your remaining balance.

A Unique Mock up Service

To avoid any misunderstandings or disappointment we offer a mock up service!

When painting a group portrait or an oil portrait based from many different photographs sometimes its best to give your artist a visual guide showing them exactly how you envision your oil portrait. This is where our graphic designer, Vlatko comes in.   Send him all your photos and tell him your ideas for the background and style and he will produce a mock-up to give to your artist detailing how you would like your oil portrait to be painted.  This is perfect for big group paintings or if your artist is working from many different photographs with different lighting etc. Lastly, if you yourself are not sure that the composition you have in mind will work this is a perfect opportunity for you to see what your oil portrait could look like before you pay any money to commission your oil painting. Nb. We do charge £15 for this service.

Free Worldwide delivery & No Hidden Charges

Portraits from Photos is based in London UK, and we offer free worldwide delivery. No matter where in the world you live we will send you your oil portrait free of charge.

Quality & Honesty

We only paint beautiful oil paintings to the highest possible standard, if after seeing your photo we don’t think we can do it justice we won’t take the commission on.

Our portrait artists are and need to be very proud of the artwork they paint. Just as we know that you need to be thrilled and proud to display your finished oil portrait. Therefore, if we think your photos are too low quality, too out of focus or blurred or if we don’t think it will make for a great oil painting we will always tell you. We won’t take on commissions just for the sake of it.

Gift Vouchers, Prices and Timescales

All of our oil portraits from photos are custom-made, meaning you can choose to have your oil portrait painted to any size that you want (handy if you wish to reuse an old frame you might have). To see examples of our popular sizes and prices, please take a look at our price guide. You need to allow between 4 – 6 weeks from ordering your oil portrait to receiving it as oils take a while to dry before we can safely send it to you and we need to allow extra time in case you would like to have amendments made to your oil portrait. If you need your oil painting sooner we can provide personalised gift vouchers for you to give to your loved ones.
